A fun weekend getaway

Antique shopping in Granbury

Here’s what I found!

So, my super sweet husband surprised me with a much-needed overnight trip to Granbury TX. My first thought was yay, and my second thought was oh goodie time for some antiquing! I found some great finds for the Sweet Peace Living home décor trunk show coming up April 7-9th.

I was absolutely in love with and inspired by our Airbnb garage apartment on the lake we stayed in. Hubby did good on this one. I loved the metal awning above the stovetop. The cute metal tray and corbel combination made some unique open shelving. Everything about this place was adorable. The pillows on the couch and the ottoman were bright, fun and comfortable which made the place so cozy. I am such a big fan of reusing old doors for headboards. Especially since my own bed is adorned by one. This headboard was extra cute with a touch of antique molding on the top.

The apartment might have been a small space but it was used so well. For extra storage, the built-ins and genius shutter door closet were a great idea. I enjoyed reading a great book in bed and looking out to the lake from a well-placed window. All in all, this place was such a great find! It is on my list to go back for sure. From the moment I walked in I was inspired to rest and get creative at the same time. I also noticed that the owners were Baylor fans, which was just the icing on the cake for me. I know the owner and I could be great friends one day!

Once we got into town and got settled we went to this little gem. Every time I go I find something special. I think my two favorite pieces from this location are the antique flower prints and this copper teakettle. I have seen reproductions of flower prints becoming popular again and had seen some I like but nothing is better than the real thing. All these needed was some white paint on the frames to bring them back to life.

Then on the way home, we stopped at Grandma’s Attic, which is a big ole place. A few years back I found some antique umbrellas there and so I knew we had to stop in. I found a great old Singer sewing machine there that just needed a good cleaning. I think it has such character with the rust and the silver plates still attached. This is sure to become a fun addition to someone’s home.

This trip ended up being just the getaway we needed. It was the prefect mix of inspiration; relaxation and I found some great treasures to sale at the upcoming home decor trunk show. Win, win, win!
